We are Breonna: Hear what Black women in her hometown have to say

On March 13, 2020, Black women's lives changed.

At 12:40 a.m., Louisville police broke down Breonna Taylor's door and shot her in the hallway of her apartment.

Anger over her death spread around the world. But it affected no one more than the Black women who saw themselves reflected in her.

They are Breonna.

Two years after she was killed, Courier Journal reporters asked Black women in Breonna's hometown how they have been affected by her death.

More than two dozen women left voicemails in a Courier Journal inbox, describing how vulnerable and powerless they feel.

Their messages are now available in an exclusive app experience, where listeners can hear what each has to say.
