College Millennials speak out: Will the GOP support same-sex marriage in 2016?

With Millennials projected to surpass the Baby Boom generation, according to a 2015 Pew Research study, our voices matter more than ever. Cue to the 2016 presidential election, in which you’ll have a number of pressing issues to consider when deciding who will get your vote.

One such issue, same-sex marriage, is expected to play a role in this election cycle. And according to another Pew Research study, conducted last year, Americans increasingly support such unions. In 2001, Pew found, 57% of Americans opposed these marriages, but in 2014, that percentage dropped to 40. And Millennials are leading the charge, with 68% on board with allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, compared with 55% of Gen Xers and 48% of Boomers.

The Supreme Court, by the way, will likely decide on a case this June that could lead the way to same-sex marriage rights nationwide.

We spoke with several Ohio State University students to get their opinions on whether their votes will be affected by the stance the presidential nominees take on same-sex marriage in their campaigns.
