6 super useful YouTube channels for every student traveler
Of course you use YouTube to watch music videos and the latest viral trends -- but did you know it is also a tool filled with travel tips?
Here are six YouTube channels that you should be watching as a student traveler or study abroad student.
1. DamonAndJo
Damon and Jo have a travel video show called "Shut Up and Go" with a strong focus on budget traveling – so pretty much, they are your new student traveling gurus. Their videos range from tips on study abroad (they both studied for a semester in Paris, France), how to make and save money for traveling and how to make your trips a little cheaper with activity suggestions. Bonus: They are also language masters and make videos in English, French, Portuguese and more.
2. Vagabrothers
Mark and Alex of the Vagabrothers create vlog-style travel videos with amazing quality and editing. In addition to travel tips and tricks, they include a ton of information in their videos about the area they are in and what they are up to. (And yes, they are actual brothers -- half American, half New Zealander.)
3. PsychoTraveller
Another great budget traveler is PsychoTraveller, who creates vlogs on her latest adventures as well as videos on her advice for those looking to save some cash while abroad. Interested in backpacking? She has videos and tips on that too!
4. Rick Steves Europe
Though he might be best known for his popular travel books, Rick Steves also has a YouTube channel with a wealth of information on travel-worthy cities and areas. His videos range from 1-3 minute clips on a particular events or traditions to full-length travel guides that last around 30 minutes per location – a great way to do some easy research before packing your bags!
5. Button and Bly
If you are an LGBT student (and even if you're not), Button and Bly’s travel channel should be on your YouTube subscription list. Not only do they make their videos personal and entertaining, they also offer a unique perspective into popular cities and often highlight LGBT-friendly bars and activities.
6. Samuel & Audrey
This couple make easy-to-follow videos that list the best things to do in the different countries they travel to, with a focus on food. So if you’re not sure what to check out in your next travel destination – this channel is for you! Warning: They may also give you some major cravings with their videos on delicious foods from around the world.
