Princess Cruises kicks off 'summer clearance sale'

Princess this week launched a summer "clearance sale" on cruises to Alaska and Europe.

The line says the week-long promotion brings savings of up to 50% off brochure rates on more than 200 summer voyages as well as on-board credits of $25 to $100 per cabin.

Passengers who book a windowless "inside" or ocean-view cabin on sailings of up to nine days will receive $25 in credit. Passengers booking balcony cabins or suites on sailings of up to nine days will receive $50 in credit.

The credit is doubled for passengers on sailings of 10 days or longer.

Sample fares that are available during the promotion:

-- Seven-night Gulf of Alaska cruises from $399 per person for an inside cabin; balcony cabins start at $799 per person.

-- Twelve-night Greek Isles cruises from $799 per person for an inside cabin; balcony cabins start at $1,299 per person.

-- Eleven-night Scandinavia & Russia cruises from $999 per person for an inside cabin; balcony cabins start at $1,999 per person.

The promotion runs through 11:59 p.m. PST on May 8 and is available to residents of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
