Seabourn touts 'farewell season' for Seabourn Pride

Luxury line Seabourn is planning a "farewell season" of activities and events on the Seabourn Pride starting in November.

The Seattle-based company says the special offerings will take place over 15 sailings beginning on Nov. 21 and will give longtime fans a chance to say goodbye to the 208-passenger ship, which is leaving the Seabourn fleet in April after 25 years.

Nearly as old as the line, the Seabourn Pride ushered in a new style of luxury cruising when it debuted in 1988 with such now-signature Seabourn features as a marina used for water sports days.

As part of the farewell, Seabourn says it is bringing back many of the Seabourn Pride's most veteran staff members and other alumni who served on the vessel.

Seabourn has sold the vessel to the parent company of Windstar Cruises. Windstar will begin operating it in May in Europe under the name Star Pride. Read more about Windstar's plans for the vessel.

The ship's final voyage under the Seabourn banner will be a trans-Atlantic sailing departing St. Thomas on March 30, 2014.
