Luxury line Silversea goes even more all-inclusive
Tired of being nickel-and-dimed on cruise ships? You'll love the latest news from Silversea Cruises.
The luxury line on Thursday announced it is throwing in free shore excursions and Internet access this year on all 52 of its Mediterranean sailings.
The offer is effective immediately with new bookings.
Under the terms of the offer, customers can choose from a range of the line's Silver Shore Select excursions offered in every port at no extra charge. More elaborate tours still will come with an extra cost.
The free Internet portion of the offer brings two hours of complimentary WiFi access per passenger, per day. Passengers in the larger suites across the Silversea fleet will get unlimited complimentary WiFi.
Silversea already is more all-inclusive than most lines. It includes the cost of drinks including wine and premium spirits in its base fares as well as gratuities and port shuttles.
Silversea's announcement comes as a new upscale line touting its all-inclusiveness, Viking Cruises, prepares to launch in Europe. Fares for Viking's soon-to-debut, 930-passenger Viking Star include free shore excursions; beer and wine with lunch and dinner; and wifi access.
One of Silversea's top rivals in the luxury cruise market, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, also offers free shore excursions and announced in August that it would offer customers in top suites free Internet access starting this year.
