Luxury line Regent plans epic voyage to Greenland
Looking for an upscale way to explore Greenland? Luxury line Regent Seven Seas has announced plans for an epic voyage to the icy destination to take place in 2016.
The 47-night sailing on the 700-passenger Seven Seas Voyager will kick off in London on June 6, 2016 and include the line's first calls in the Greenland capital of Nuuk (pop. 15,000) and the small towns of Paamiut and Qaqortoq as well as a visit to the island's famed Prince Kristian Fjord.
The trip also will include six stops in Iceland, including the line's first call at the town of Akureyri. Calls in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Ireland, Norway and Denmark's Faroe Islands also are part of the sailing.
The voyage ends July 23 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The unusual Greenland itinerary is one of more than 60 the line plans for the summer and fall of 2016 that will open for booking on Feb. 11. The trips include visits to 220 ports in 71 countries. Eleven of the ports are places to which the line has never sailed.
Fares for the voyage start at $39,699 per person, based on double occupancy and including flights to and from the ship.
