Disney to offer longer cruises from Miami
The Disney Cruise Line will return to Miami in late 2016 with a series of new, longer voyages to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
The line today announced the 1,754-passenger Disney Magic will operate seven-night sailings from Miami to Key West, Fla.; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; and Castaway Cay on Nov. 20 and Dec. 4, 2016. Castaway Cay is Disney's private island in the Bahamas.
The sailings will alternate with seven-night sailings from Miami to Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Castaway Cay taking place on Nov. 27 and Dec. 11, 2016.
The two itineraries can be booked together to create an even longer, 14-night trip that doesn't repeat ports other than Castaway Cay.
A fifth seven-night sailing from Miami to Tortola; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Castaway Cay will take place on Dec. 23, 2016.
The Disney Magic also will sail four-, five- and six-night voyages out of Miami on Nov. 16, Dec. 18 and Dec. 30, 2016, respectively.
Disney first sailed from Miami during the winter of 2012-13, operating primarily three- and four-night cruises from the city with a single six-night and a single seven-night voyage.
As previously announced, both the Disney Magic and sister ship Disney Wonder will sail from Miami this coming winter of 2015-16 at different times with mostly four- and five-night itineraries.

The newly announced voyages for late 2016 mark the first time Disney has offered a series of seven-night cruises from Miami.
Disney today also announced that it would return to New York in the fall of 2016 with a series of seven- and eight-night sailings to the Bahamas. The line also plans a single five-night cruise from New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.
Disney also will return to Galveston, Texas in late 2016 with a series of seven-night sailings on the Disney Wonder. The ship will operate five sailings from Galveston to the Bahamas starting on Nov. 18, 2016. Two seven-night and two four-night sailings from Galveston to the Western Caribbean also are planned.
Disney's two other ships, the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, sail year-round out of Port Canaveral, Fla. For a deck-by-deck tour of the Disney Fantasy, click through the carousel at the top of this story.
The new sailings announced today will open for bookings on May 20.
