River line AmaWaterways expands offerings for solo travelers
Traveling solo? It looks like AmaWaterways is eager for your business.
In a new program, the California-based river cruise company says it is setting aside double-occupancy cabins on every sailing that solo travelers can book at no extra charge.
The cabins will be available to solo travelers without the payment of the "single supplement" that the line normally charges for a single traveler to occupy a cabin meant for two.
"We are thrilled to extend this special perk to solo travelers, inviting them to enjoy the best of our line's ultra-comfortable accommodations without any additional costs or sacrifice," co-owner and executive vice president Kristin Karst says in a statement accompanying the announcement.
The double-occupancy cabins that are being set aside for solo travelers will be the smaller rooms found on the lowest level of ships. They will be in addition to single occupancy cabins that exist on many AmaWaterways vessels.
AmaWaterways markets more than a dozen river ships in Europe on more than half a dozen rivers including the Rhine, Main, Danube and Seine. Fares start at $2,499 per person for a seven-night trip.
The company also sells voyages in Africa and Asia including seven-night sailings on the Mekong that start at $2,299 per person.
