Show Us Your Car: A 1970 Porsche 917 rides again
Paste BN'S Chris Woodyard talks with Herb Wysard of Fullerton, Calif., about his recreation of a 1970 Porsche 917.
When Herb Wysard of Fullerton, Calif., runs an errand, he can take a little piece of LeMans racing heritage with him.
Wysard owns a recreation of a 1970 Porsche 917, the car that conquered the famous race. He says it was built in Australia by a father-and-son team, one of only about 16 like it.
The car came to the U.S. with no motor. Wysard says it now has Porsche engine.
Yet he doesn't go that fast, and for good reason. It "tends to dart a little bit because it's so sensitive to changes in the pavement," he says.
