Dev Patel played the role of Good Samaritan Monday night, attempting to break up a physical altercation between two individuals.

A stabbing incident took place Monday in the central business district of Adelaide, Australia, according to a news release from the South Australia Police. Police were alerted following reports of a man and woman fighting in the street. The couple continued their quarrel inside a nearby service station, where witnesses attempted to break up the fight.

One of the witnesses was Patel, 32, who “acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight,” a representative for “The Green Knight” star confirmed to Paste BN.

“Last night, in Adelaide, Dev Patel and his friends witnessed a violent altercation that was already in progress outside of a convenience store,” the statement said. “The group was thankfully successful in doing so and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived. There are no heroes in this situation.”
