Kelly Clarkson has nothing but love for her “American Idol” family, especially Carrie Underwood.

During a Tuesday appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Clarkson – who won Season 1 of the reality-competition series – was asked by a fan about her experience having Underwood as a guest on her eponymous talk show. The fan began the question, however, by alluding to Clarkson’s longtime rumored feud with the country singer, who won Season 4.

"I know where you're going with this. People always pit us together, and we don't even know each other well enough to be pitted against each other," said Clarkson, interrupting the fan. "We've run into each other a handful of times. There's no beef between us. There's nothing. We don't know each other."

When the fan finished their question, Clarkson began laughing as she realized the topic wasn’t what she initially thought.

"Everybody always asks me the pitted-against-each-other question," Clarkson said. "It was awesome. It was great to have her on the show. I think the thing that was cool about it is that everybody always pits us against each other, and I don’t know why they do that."

She added: "We don’t even know each other well enough to do that. But I’d love to have her (on the show) in person. It was during COVID, so it was over Zoom."

This isn’t the first time the "Idol" veterans have squashed the notion of a feud. In April 2018, responding to a Twitter poll asking which singer was the "most iconic," Clarkson wrote, "I think we’re both winning in life and pretty blessed!"

Underwood also responded to the poll at the time, echoing Clarkson’s sentiment of mutual support.

"Whatever, girl, I voted for you!," Underwood tweeted. "But seriously, I do wish more publications would just celebrate women’s success without pitting them against each other."
