Danny Pintauro, who played Jonathan Bower on the sitcom "Who's the Boss?," is recovering after a scooter accident landed him in the hospital.

"On Thanksgiving night I got into a scooter accident," Pintauro wrote on Instagram Sunday, adding that the bike lane he was riding in got suddenly blocked off by cones.

In a post that interlaced text with clips of Pintauro in a hospital gown, sometimes with an intubation tube, Pintauro shared he had been diagnosed with a bloodstream infection resulting from a tear in his stomach lining.

"The pain was so significant all across my chest and stomach muscles and shoulder muscles that I could barely breath (sic)," he wrote, "It was the worst moment of my life."

The actor says the accident has "been the most excruciating pain I've felt in my whole life." After going through surgery the pain has begun to subside, Pintauro revealed, before thanking medical staff and husband Wil Tabares for driving him to the hospital and staying by his side.

"Keep me in your prayers for the next few days that the repair sticks and that I can get out of here soon," he wrote.

His recovery requires refraining from eating or drinking for three days, the actor revealed, writing to followers that he was "stressed, hungry, in pain."

Alyssa Milano, who starred alongside Pintauro in the '80s sitcom, commented, "Oh no! I’m so sorry."

Pintauro was a core member of the "Who's the Boss" cast for just shy of a decade and appeared in the 1983 horror movie "Cujo." After his child stardom stint, he was cast more sparsely and has not appeared in a major title in decades. In 2015, he revealed in an interview with Oprah that he was HIV-positive. "I wanted to tell you this a long time ago, but I wasn't ready. I'm ready now," he said.

His accident is the latest in a spate of celebrity accidents on moving vehicles, from scooters to bikes. Simon Cowell broke several bones in his back from a bike accident in 2020, and actress Nina Dobrev also suffered an injury from a bike accident, fracturing her knee.
