Louis Tomlinson at the Super Bowl: One Direction star makes rare appearance

Directioners and football fans − however big that Venn diagram may be − got a special treat Sunday.
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson made a rare appearance at Caesar's Superdome in New Orleans for the Super Bowl. Walking the Tubi red carpet, the ex-boy bander wore a burgundy and white-checked zip-up paired with dark wash jeans and white sneakers.
Videos of the singer at the pop-up "Super Bowl Experience" show him testing his jump height and sprinting on a mock field. While his outfit did not indicate which side he was rooting for (the game was between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs), videos showed Tomlinson admiring Eagles jackets at the pre-game expo.
The Eagles were ultimately triumphant, delivering a walloping loss to the Chiefs who, tight end Travis Kelce said, hadn't "played that bad all year."
Tomlinson's appearance comes just five months after former bandmate Liam Payne's shocking death. Payne died in October after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Argentina. An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing, and it has emerged that Payne was heavily under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of his fall.
In response to the news of Payne's passing, Tomlinson wrote on Instagram: "I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to every day, such a positive, funny, and kind soul."
In a bittersweet reunion, all remaining four members of the band came together for Payne's funeral in November.
Tomlinson was just one of several celebrities in attendance at the Super Bowl. Anne Hathaway, an Eagles fan, quickly became a meme for her exaggerated reactions and Taylor Swift, Kelce's girlfriend, also looked on.
