Sean Combs' ex-girlfriend Gina Huynh says she forgave 'man I once loved': 'Free Diddy'
Sean "Diddy" Combs' ex-girlfriend Virginia "Gina" Huynh is now praising the embattled music mogul.
Huynh, who reportedly dropped out at the last minute from testifying against him in his May federal sex-crimes trial, took to Threads this week to share a series of messages seemingly written in support of Combs.
The music mogul was acquitted of the most serious charges − including racketeering and sex trafficking − but was convicted on July 2 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
"FreeDiddy 🖤" one post read Aug. 4, followed by another Aug. 5 that said, "I've never been the type of person to follow crowds & trends. I'm not a follower." Huynh continued writing: "You sheeps act like I can't forgive a man I once loved… I’m not gonna kick him while he's down cause yall want me to."
"ima always have his back," she concluded the post.
Combs is currently in jail awaiting sentencing at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Huynh is a model and influencer who reportedly dated Combs from 2014 to 2019, and has spoken publicly about the physical, emotional and mental abuse she endured from Combs publicly as early as 2019, before Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine's 2023 lawsuit. Huynh has said the Bad Boy Records founder coerced her into terminating two pregnancies, but that she stayed because she loved him.
Huynh's comments on Threads arrive after she advocated for his release from jail just days ago. In a letter submitted Sunday, Aug. 3, to Combs' trial judge Arun Subramanian, Huynh requested the hitmaker's release on bail and wrote that Combs embodies an "energy of love, patience and gentleness" despite his "mistakes."
Prosecutors said Combs – who has been jailed since last September – was "violent toward" Huynh and was in a relationship with him at the same time as Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine. In her letter to the judge, Huynh said that "... mistakes were made but he was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make better decisions in the future."
Huynh was initially identified anonymously in Combs' indictment as "Victim-3." She was occasionally referred to by name during his trial, including references to violent incidents between the two as well as mentions of Combs' overlapping relationships with Ventura Fine and an unidentified ex-girlfriend who testified as "Jane."
Subramanian again denied Combs' bail in an order Monday, Aug 4, after the rapper and his legal team requested that he be released on a $50 million bond.
Subramanian said in the order that Combs has failed to "meet his burden by clear and convincing evidence" of demonstrating that he won't be a danger to the public, or flee, if released.
