Can you stream the theatrical versions of the Star Wars trilogy?

For diehard fans, the versions of the original trilogy that are available on streaming are the edited versions "Special Editions."

The theatrical release versions for the trilogy (sometimes referred to as "Star Wars unedited") released in 1977-1983, do not have CGI. In 1997, the films were rereleased and added more advanced audio and visual elements, including CGI.

For example, in the theatrical release of "Star Wars" (1977), which was later renamed "A New Hope," Jabba the Hut is a man, not a giant space slug.

What is the chronological order of the Star Wars movies?

There are two ways that fans typically watch the "Star Wars films," in chronological order of the release date or chronological order of the episodes.

While watching them in episode order is fairly simple (Episode I, Episode II, Episode III, and so on), this is the order in which the "Star Wars" movies were released in theaters:

  • "Episode IV – A New Hope" (1977)
  • "Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back" (1980)
  • "Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" (1983)
  • "Episode I – The Phantom Menace" (1999)
  • "Episode II – Attack of the Clones" (2002)
  • "Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" (2005)
  • "Episode VII – The Force Awakens" (2015)
  • "Episode VIII – The Last Jedi" (2017)
  • "Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker" (2019)
