New 'Hunger Games' adds more major stars: See the latest casting reveals

The latest "Hunger Games" movie isn't starving for talented actors, with a slate of major stars set to join the increasingly stacked cast.
On July 25, the franchise conscripted a new group of cast members, the most notable addition being "Unstable" actress Iris Apatow, who's set to play Capitol University student Proserpina.
Glenn Close and Billy Porter are also among the star-studded cast in the upcoming "Hunger Games" prequel movie "Sunrise on the Reaping," as confirmed by Lionsgate on June 16. Close is set to play Drusilla Sickle, an escort for tributes from District 12, while Porter will play Magno Stift, her estranged husband and a designer.
Based on the 2025 novel by Suzanne Collins, "Sunrise on the Reaping" takes place 24 years before the events of the original "Hunger Games" and follows a mixture of new characters and younger versions of characters seen in earlier entries.
Joseph Zada is set to play Haymitch Abernathy, who was previously portrayed by Woody Harrelson, and Elle Fanning will star as Effie Trinket, played in prior movies by Elizabeth Banks. Jesse Plemons is also stepping in as Plutarch Heavensbee, taking over for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Ralph Fiennes is starring as President Snow, the role played previously by the late Donald Sutherland.
Lionsgate has been gradually revealing more cast members for "Sunrise on the Reaping" in recent months, with Kieran Culkin previously joining as Caesar Flickerman. Stanley Tucci played the role in the original "Hunger Games" films. Other actors set to star in the movie include Maya Hawke and Mckenna Grace. The casting announcements have received largely positive reactions from fans, many of whom had suggested Fanning and Culkin for their respective roles.
"Sunrise on the Reaping" will be the latest expansion of the "Hunger Games" franchise on the big screen following 2023's "The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes," another prequel that took place even earlier in the series' timeline. Francis Lawrence is returning as director of "Sunrise on the Reaping," having directed every "Hunger Games" film except the original 2012 movie.
