'Devil Wears Prada 2' cast: Who's returning for the Anne Hathaway sequel?

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is shaping up to be a star-studded affair.
A much-anticipated sequel to the 2006 magazine media cult classic, the movie is set to premiere May 1, 2026, and will bring back Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway in their original starring roles.
As hype continues to generate over the follow-up to a now-beloved film, the cast is rounding out. Hollywood veteran Lucy Liu will lend her talents to the film, as will Justin Theroux, Variety and People report.
Undoubtedly bringing comic relief, "The Office" star B.J. Novak and "Sex Lives of College Girls" actress Pauline Chalamet will also appear, according to the outlets. In a sign of changing times, TikTok comedian Caleb Hearon also earned a spot on the cast, just the latest internet star to make the crossover into film and television. Hearon notched a guest spot on the popular series "Overcompensating" this year and on the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" revival in 2024.
Drawing also from the Broadway stage, the film has looped in "Maybe Happy Ending" star Helen J. Shen and "Oh, Mary!" star Conrad Ricamora as well, Variety confirms.
The halls of Runway Magazine won't be missing familiar faces, though. Tracie Thoms, who played Lily, Hathaway's best friend in the original film, will reprise her character, as will Tibor Feldman, who portrayed media executive Irv Ravitz.
Details of the plot remain under wraps, but the basis will no doubt need to evolve as modern magazine media, the world the original "Devil Wears Prada" brought to life, has changed dramatically. In 2006, at the film's release, glossy mags graced newsstands and doctors' office waiting areas, boasting celebrity interviews and fashion advice.
Now, following the internet boom and the slow decline of print media, fashion ingénues turn to influencers and social media for the hot new thing, and celebrities stop by the podcast circuit to promote their latest project.
How the icy media giant Miranda Priestly (Streep) – largely believed the be based on Vogue's Anna Wintour, who herself is stepping down from her top editor role at the fashion bible – will adapt to the shifting tides will no doubt take center stage in the sequel. Kenneth Branagh is set to star as her husband, Deadline reports.
