Iggy Azalea addresses accusations her song 'Sally Walker' copies Cardi B's 'Money'
Iggy Azalea is addressing that so-called Cardi B controversy.
After the Australian rapper released her single "Sally Walker" in March, listeners pointed out similarities between her track to the American rapper's "Money," which was released in 2018.
In an interview with Variety Tuesday, Azalea said she didn't think there was "much of a controversy" because both songs were produced by the same person.
"I'd understand it being a controversy if it were another guy sounding like that producer, but because they’re both J. White beats, it’s just his signature sound," she said. "Cardi’s cool, I’m cool. If the artists are happy and the beat’s made by the same guy, everybody’s cool."
Cardi B has not commented on the comparisons.
Last week, after years of delays, Azalea's second album finally arrived, without a high-charting lead single or the momentum of her debut.
The title of her sophomore release, “In My Defense,” reads like a response to the years of delays and drama that preceded it.
