Sam Hunt will headline postponed Summerfest in Milwaukee Sept. 4

At least one of the shows originally scheduled for Summerfest in Milwaukee this summer will go on during the festival's postponed run in September.

Country pop star Sam Hunt will headline the American Family Insurance Amphitheater Sept. 4 as part of his rescheduled "Southside Summer Tour."

The tour, like Summerfest and a majority of tours and festivals scheduled through July, was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hunt was originally set to play Summerfest's amphitheater June 26. But on March 23, officials with Summerfest's parent company Milwaukee World Festival Inc. announced the festival would be postponed for the first time in its 53-year history.

The 2020 festival, originally set for June 24 to July 5, is now scheduled for Sept. 3 to 5, 10 to 12 and 17 to 19.

Kip Moore, Travis Denning, Ernest and Brandi Cyrus will still open for Hunt at the amphitheater. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com, and all previously purchased tickets will be honored and will include Summerfest general admission Sept. 4. Refunds are available through the point of purchase, but people who purchased tickets at the Summerfest box office will have to wait until it reopens to request refunds in person.

The Hunt concert was one of 16 shows previously announced for Summerfest this year before the music festival, the largest in the United States, was postponed. Nine of those shows were set for the amphitheater, scheduled to reopen this year following a two-year, $53 million renovation. The other seven were scheduled for Summerfest's BMO Harris Pavilion.

Those previously announced headliners include Justin Bieber, Guns N' Roses, Dave Matthews Band and Halsey. Summerfest has yet to say whether any of those artists will play the Milwaukee festival in its new September dates.

"Festival officials are currently doing everything possible to reschedule as many artists for Summerfest," festival officials said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. "We appreciate your patience; more information will be forthcoming."
