Harry Styles says masks and vaccination proof or negative COVID test required to see his 'Love On' tour

With COVID-19 cases climbing, a growing number of concerts are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry.

Now one of the biggest tours of the year is adding another requirement — masks — for everyone.

Organizers for Harry Styles' "Love On" U.S. tour, supporting his blockbuster "Fine Line" album, made the announcement Wednesday for his 40-date tour starting in Las Vegas Sept. 4 and wrapping up in Los Angeles in November.

Within the last few weeks, it's becoming increasingly common for live shows to require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test due to the surge caused by the more contagious delta variant.

Recently, both major concert entities – Live Nation Entertainment and AEG Presents – unveiled protocols to combat the surging virus. In October, both will implement vaccine mandates at their fully owned and operated venues and festivals in the U.S. where permitted by law. They will also require staff and employees to be vaccinated.

Some artists are choosing to cancel 2021 touring plans altogether — including Garth Brooks, Stevie Nicks, Nine Inch Nails, and Summerfest headliners Pixies and Modern English — while acts on tour now like Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy and Korn have had to cancel shows due to positive COVID tests among band members or their crew.

Summerfest, which starts next week, is requiring masks for children 12 and younger, who are currently ineligible for the vaccine, and strongly encouraging masks for indoor spaces, but they are not required otherwise. Summerfest attendees also have to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.

For the Styles tour, all concertgoers will need to provide proof of full vaccination, with the last shot administered at least 14 days before an event, or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of a show. Children 12 and younger also will be required to present proof of a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of a show.

Refund information in light of the new requirements has not been announced.
