Beyoncé launches tour in New York: New hair, fresh looks, cute matching moment with Rumi
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter launched her first show in New York on her "Cowboy Carter" tour, delivering yet another groundbreaking performance filled with new looks, fresh energy and more heartwarming moments with her children.
The Grammy-winning singer wasted no time kicking off her "Cowboy Carter" concert at MetLife Stadium on May 22, starting the show around 8:04 p.m. ET — one of the earliest times yet. In fact, as the first song began, many fans scrambled to their seats in a mix of angst and excitement.
The performance marked Beyoncé's first show in the New York area — East Rutherford, New Jersey — on her Cowboy Carter and Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She is set to perform on the same stage for a total of five nights. The remaining shows will take place May 24, 25, 28 and 29.
"I want to say thank y'all for being here in the rain and cold weather. I'm going to try my best to keep y'all warm," she told the crowd as she opened the show.
Here are notable moments from the MetLife opener.
Beyoncé rocks new hairstyle in New York
When Beyoncé first stepped foot on the stage Thursday night, fans instantly took note of her new hairstyle — voluminous, cascading curls. Since kicking off the tour in Los Angeles on April 21, she has mainly rocked loose curls. However, it's worth noting Beyoncé doesn't have a signature look. She's known to switch it up.
Beyoncé, Blue Ivy debut new outfits: Blue 'loves NY'
Each night, Beyoncé continues to blend high fashion and cowboy couture, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they anticipate a new look. Of course, there's been lots of Western-glam with sparkly chaps, cowboy hats, boots and piles of fringe. During Thursday's show she debuted another show-stopping outfit during "Alliigator Tears".
The new get-up featured a sparkly, American flag ensemble. Beyoncé paired it with a Black cowboy hat, gloves and a furry coat. And she even had a surprise on the back when she turned around.
And Beyoncé wasn't the only one. Her 13-year-old daughter and dancer Blue Ivy even debuted a new look during her "Deja Vu" performance, wearing jeans and an 'I love New York' shirt.
Beyoncé and 7-year-old Rumi Carter share an adorable matching moment
Fans weren't just talking about Beyoncé's and Blu Ivy's new look, either. Beyoncé and Jay Z's 7-year-old daughter Rumi Carter stole the show when she appeared onstage during Beyoncé's "Protector" performance.
The baby Carter also debuted a brand-new outfit — this time matching with her mom in a sparkly ensemble and a white, fluffy coat.

Manager Blue Ivy shines — rain or shine
And it wouldn't be a 'Cowboy Carter' concert if manager Blue didn't do her thing. At one point, fans caught Blue smoothly wiping the wet floor before breaking into dancing. A true professional.
Of course, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. She performed a total of five shows there, putting on a revolutionary show filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary.
The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26. Beyoncé has already made history with her scheduled tour dates, including by playing the most dates at SoFi Stadium of any artist.
