Social media reacts to Taylor Swift owning masters, declares 5/30 as 'Independence Day'
Every song is now "Taylor's Version." Taylor Swift announced May 30 that she owns all of her music, music videos, concert films, album art, photography and unreleased songs from her entire catalog.
"Every single era," she wrote in a letter to her website explaining the purchase. Three quick takeaways from the almost 700-word letter:
- Swift rerecorded less than a quarter of "Reputation," but she hopes to rerelease its vault tracks.
- She has finished rerecording her debut album, which turns 20 next year, and it's something that could "re-emerge when the time is right."
- She is hinting at her next era, TS12, with Easter egg clues.
And her social media legion is rejoicing. Fans of the singer are "screaming, crying, throwing up." Even some of her close friends like "Snow On The Beach" collaborator Lana Del Rey shared the news on instagram. Rey wrote on her story, "@ScooterBraun what up?"
