'Jeopardy!' reunion tournament: Brown University freshman wins by razor-thin margin of $363
"Jeopardy!" officially crowned a winner of the High School Reunion Tournament.
During Thursday's episode, Justin Bolsen, a freshman at Brown University, came out on top, claiming the $100,000 grand prize and earning a spot in the upcoming Tournament of Champions, where, at the age of 18, he'll be the youngest player competing.
Vanderbilt University junior Jackson Jones placed second, and Emory University senior Maya Wright finished third, winning $50,000 and $25,000, respectively.
Bolsen thanked his middle and high school Quiz Bowl coaches, as well as his college peers, in a statement after his win.
“It feels really good,” Bolsen said. “It feels like all the Quiz Bowl stuff I’ve done, all the coaching I had – I had really great middle school and high school Quiz Bowl coaches – I owe a lot of this to them. I go to Brown, which is a really open, collaborative environment, so I had a lot of friends who helped me study too, which was nice.”
He also said he's looking forward to the Tournament of Champions this fall.
“It’s going to be crazy,” he added. “I think everybody knows that people who go on mega-streaks are really, really good, so I can only hope to do my best against them. We’ll see what they have in store for me."
During the final match that aired Thursday, Bolsen beat Jones by just $363, ending with a final score of $35,561. Wright finished with $24,610 and also came in third during her first "Jeopardy!" appearance in 2018's Teen Tournament.
