'SNL50': Release date, time, cast, where to watch new docuseries 'honoring' show's legacy
"Saturday Night Live" is celebrating 50 years with a new docuseries that will "honor" its legacy and cover "decades of SNL history."
The four-part docuseries titled "SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night" will feature "over 60 contributors, including SNL alumni," and will offer "a behind-the-scenes look at some of the American late-night comedy institution’s most iconic elements and rich history," according to Peacock, which is owned by NBC. It will also include "never-before-seen footage across five decades of SNL history."
"Spotlighting some of the show’s most iconic elements, each episode delves into the rich history of SNL and pulls back the curtain on the audition process, the writers’ room, the fan favorite 'More Cowbell' sketch and the pivotal Season 11," says Peacock about the new show.

"SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night" is set to release in the U.S. on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT.
How to watch 'SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night'
All 4 episodes of the "SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night" will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock at 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT on Thursday, Jan. 16. The docuseries is a Peacock Original and will not air on NBC, a Peacock spokesperson told Paste BN.
All prior seasons of SNL are available to stream on Peacock. New episodes of SNL stream live on Peacock, in addition to the broadcast on NBC.

Besides the docuseries, other 50th anniversary celebrations of Saturday Night Live include:
- "Ladies & Gentleman… 50 years of SNL Music," slated to premiere on Jan 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. It will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
- A celebratory weekend, culminating in a live primetime special on Sunday, February 16 on NBC and Peacock.
