Jon Stewart ended a "Daily Show" segment about budget cuts with a cut of his own.

The comedian, 62, accidentally sliced his hand in an episode of the Comedy Central show on Monday.

The mishap came while Stewart was discussing President Donald Trump's and Tesla CEO Elon Musk's efforts to institute budget cuts in the federal government through the Department of Government Efficiency. Near the end of the segment, Stewart pulled out props, including a lamp and a white mug, to set up an office for himself so he could help DOGE with cutting government waste.

Stewart argued that DOGE isn't focusing on making cuts "where the real waste, fraud and abuse in our system really is." As he continued to speak, he became frustrated and smashed the mug onto his desk, and it broke in his hand.

When the comedian looked down, he appeared to notice that he was bleeding, so he tucked his right hand under the desk for the remainder of the segment.

"I'll be going to the hospital," he joked.

A few minutes later, Stewart lifted his hand up to reveal that he was bleeding. As the audience groaned and expressed shock, he assured them, "It's fine!"

But Stewart didn't let the accident stop him from finishing his segment and reaching his conclusion. He ended by saying that while he wants "better efficiencies" in government, "we're DOGE-ing in the wrong place" by not cutting subsidies for corporations and money given to defense contractors, among other areas, for potential reductions.

"This is where the real money is," he said. "The money our free market-ish system uses to prop up corporate profit at the expense of the taxpayer."

Before the episode aired, Stewart teased the incident on X by writing, "We're back! New 'Daily Show' tonight! It's a bloody good episode ... emphasis on bloody ... I'm an idiot."
