'Survivor' is back: Season 48 premiere date, cast, where to watch and stream

After a two-month hiatus, "Survivor" is back with another batch of hopeful players ready to compete in one of the most physically, strategically and emotionally brutal games on television.
"Survivor" Season 48 premieres this week, introducing 18 more contestants vying for $1 million prize and the title of sole survivor while grappling with food deprivation, exposure to the elements and layered social politics. The new cast features players from all walks of life, from a Massachusetts pizzeria manager and Florida flight attendant to a California stunt performer and South Carolina surgeon.
The Wednesday premiere comes after host Jeff Probst revealed a major twist for the milestone 50th season, which will feature an all-star cast. "Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans" will allow viewers to vote on key game elements, including the inclusion or exclusion of hidden immunity idols and the final four fire making challenge.
Producers are currently curating a cast of 18-20 previous "Survivor" players to compete once again, Probst told Paste BN Monday. He said the short list is currently at around 50 contestants.
