On this day Kirk Gibson hit his World Series homer
The man could not run, could barely walk and struggled to stand. That is an unlikely recipe for being a World Series hero.
But on this day in 1988, Kirk Gibson hit his World Series home run off Dennis Eckersley to give the Dodgers a 1-0 series lead against the Oakland A's.
Vin Scully had the call and all we can say it was Vin-esque:
"She is.....gone!" Then just the sound of cheers followed by "in a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened."
In the stands that night was Emmy winner Bryan Cranston who watched someone else Breaking Bad.
