Lin says goodbye to wrong rookie after trade
Jeremy Lin is an all around good guy. That doesn't mean he isn't capable of making a mistake or two every now and then.
When Lin found out Houston Rockets rookie Jeremy Lamb had been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, he decided to give Lamb a call to wish him good luck with his new team.
Unfortunately, Lin called another rookie, Scott Machado, by mistake.
"I was like, 'Hey, it's Scott, it's not Jeremy,' " Machado told Ultimate Rockets of his conversation with Lin. "'Did you hear something about me?' I was all nervous. He was like, "Oh, I apologize, I apologize.' It all worked out."
Machado was understandably nervous, sitting on a non-guaranteed contract as an undrafted rookie.
"I was here (Monday) and nobody told me anything," Machado said. "I came out to practice and it felt good. I feel like it's a true blessing. I've been working hard to get where I wanted to go."
The Rockets open the season against the Detroit Pistons Thursday night.
