Referee's on-air cursing surprises CBS announcer (VIDEO)

When I used to announce college sports events for a website, an engineer once offered unsolicited advice. "Always assume the microphone is on," he said.

NFL referee Tony Corrente caused have used that tip on Sunday.

The official was talking to one of his crew about the spot of the ball following an Indianapolis Colts penalty. While debating, Corrente's frustration manifested itself in some foul language.

The reaction of announcer Kevin Harlan make it sound like he's in the crowd watching Eminem's battle-rap scene from 8 Mile. I bet he snapped off his fingers in the air too.

There are two schools of thought on how to react to on-air cursing: Ignore or act like it wasn't a big deal and apologize. I think we're all thankful that Harlan chose option C.
