Bradley Beal lifts Wizards over Thunder in final second
Beating the Thunder and the Heat in the same season should be a good indicator that a team is ready for a playoff run. After all, the Grizzlies were the only team to have accomplished the feat prior to Monday.
It's safe to say the Wizards won't be joining Memphis in the postseason. Instead, Washington's 101-99 win against Oklahoma City on Monday has to be taken as the latest oddity in the Wizards' bizarre season.
It took a patently weird outing for the Wizards to escape with the win. Washington had two 4-point plays in the game -- one by Bradley Beal in the last seconds of the third quarter and another by Martell Webster late in the fourth.
The Wizards were also without their top two scorers in Jordan Crawford and Nene, leaving their roster thinner than Kevin Durant. But anything's possible when Russell Westbrook and Kevin Martin combine to hit just 7 of 29 field goals.
But the Thunder appeared to be in decent shape after rallying to tie the game at 99-99 with 12.2 seconds left. Then Beal took over.
