Kevin Durant smacks basketball into fan's face (VIDEO)

Kevin Durant "is the nicest guy in the NBA," according to his new Foot Locker commercial. So why would he smack a basketball into a fan's face?

To give himself a chance to apologize, of course.

The Oklahoma City Thunder forward used his long arms to deflect a pass by the Phoenix Suns' Luis Scola during Sunday's 97-69 road win. But Durant miscalculated his angles. The ball smacked a fan right on the head.

Durant immediately ran over to make sure she was all right. She flung her hair aside and laughed. It was a wonderful moment.

The deflection was about the only imperfect moment for the Thunder, who stormed out to an 11-point first-quarter lead and kept adding on to it for a fourth consecutive 20-point win.

Durant only had 18 points, a product of his 29 minutes played. They blasted the Suns on Friday, too, in a game you might remember for Durant's nasty dunk on Markieff Morris.

No word on whether Durant apologized to Morris after that.
