ESPN announcer confirms he dated Indiana fan's mom
ESPN analyst Dan Dakich played four years at Indiana and served as an assistant for 12 more, evidently leaving a trail of broken hearts along the way.
During Tuesday night's Indiana-Ohio State game, ESPN cameras spied a young woman holding up a sign reading "Dan Dakich dated my mom ... seriously."
Was it a joke at Dakich's expense? A joke at the mom's expense? A cheap way to get on ESPN?
The resulting story was laugh-out-loud funny.
Dakich was set to name names before Tirico interrupted.
"Don't name the woman," the play-by-play man joked to his broadcast partner. "Don't embarrass her."
"Are you kidding me?" Dakich replied. "She should wear that as a badge of honor."
Take note, current girlfriends of Indiana players. In 25 years, your children can use this relationship as a springboard for 15 seconds of fame.
(By the way, listening to the joy in Tirico's voice as he calls games with Dakich reminds you of how much of a drag Jon Gruden is on the Monday Night Football booth.)
