Oklahoma softball is on the verge of WCWS history. See their path to (another) title.
The Oklahoma Sooners aim to make history this year by being the first softball team to win four consecutive Women's College World Series titles.
With three consecutive national championships and seven titles, the Sooners rank third on the all-time list of winningest WCWS champions.
No team has ever won four titles in a row, including the top two, University of California, Los Angeles and Arizona.
Both won five nonconsecutive WCWS titles from 1988 to 1997, dominating the college softball championship for an entire decade.
The Sooners kicked off their quest for a fourth WCWS title with a 9-1, blowout win over Duke on May 30.

Women's College World Series Championship titles
Before Oklahoma's three-peat in 2021-23, UCLA had come the closest to a four-peat, winning three of the first four Women's College World Series titles from 1982-85 and three-peating from 1988 through 1990. Arizona's first title in 1991 kept UCLA from the four-peat.
All eight teams in the WCWS are still in contention after the first day. However, elimination games will start on DT on Saturday. In the first game of the day, the Bruins defeated Alabama 4-1.
This upcoming match will mark the eighth meeting between Oklahoma and UCLA in the WCWS, with the Sooners having faced only Alabama more in the event.
