As Donald Trump prepares to become the nation’s 47th president – eight years after he first took the post – he’ll be surrounded by his extensive family. Trump's political career is intertwined with his family, which includes five children and 10 grandchildren.

Trump is also known for his real estate empire in New York City, his lavish Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, and other Trump-branded properties around the world. But where did it all start?

Trump is one of five children. He was born and raised in Queens, New York, in 1946 to successful real estate developer Fredrick Trump Sr. and Scottish immigrant Mary Anne MacLeod Trump. Trump attended the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, New York. He later attended Fordham University in the Bronx and Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania.

Trump entered the world of finance in his family's real estate business, which he renamed the Trump Organization. After making a name for himself in real estate, he starred in "The Apprentice," a reality television show. In 2016, Trump was elected the 45th president but lost his reelection bid to Joe Biden in 2020.
