Here's where the largest snowfall will happen this week at ski resorts

Estimated weekly snowfall at popular ski resorts in the U.S. and Canada, Jan. 27 through Feb. 2

Wondering if fresh snow is in the forecast? Dreaming of a destination ski or snowboard trip in the U.S. or Canada? This weekly update provides the total estimated snowfall at popular ski destinations in the West and Northeast. OnTheSnow Meteorologist Chris Tomer, author of the Snow Before You Go column will keep you in the know for fresh powder days.

Snowfall predictions in the West

"An area of low pressure in Southern California generates much needed rain and snow to very dry areas, including Los Angeles and the Southern Sierra Mountains. Then, this low ejects towards the Four Corners, where heavy snow accumulation is possible at ski resorts in Arizona, Southern Utah, New Mexico, and Southern Colorado. Looking further down the road, a pattern change appears likely the first week of February with widespread snow for the West," said Tomer.

Snowfall predictions in the Northeast

"In the Northeast, a couple Alberta clippers (weak, fast moving storm systems originating in Alberta, Canada) and a stronger coastal storm system are possible through early February," said Tomer.
