Wondering if fresh snow is in the forecast? Dreaming of a destination ski or snowboard trip in the U.S. or Canada? This weekly update provides the total estimated snowfall at popular ski destinations in the West and Northeast. OnTheSnow Meteorologist Chris Tomer, author of the Snow Before You Go column will keep you in the know for fresh powder days.
Snowfall predictions in the West
"The pattern favors the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, Central and Northern Idaho, Northwest Montana, and the Tetons for the best new snow through March 2, said Tomer. "Some ski resorts could see 1-2 feet of snow accumulation. A ridge of high pressure builds across the Southwest with warm and dry conditions across California, Arizona, New Mexico, most of Utah, and most of Colorado."
Snowfall predictions in the Northeast
"In the Northeast I’m forecasting a few minor storm systems through March 2, which could bring up to a foot of snow over the course of the week at some New England ski areas," Tomer said.
