Review: 'Touch & Geaux' by Abigail Roux
The Cut & Run series is an absolute favorite of mine. It follows the adventures of FBI Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett, who are not only partners at work, but partners in love. Way back in book one, they hated each other. But now in book seven, they are in a very loving, committed relationship. While they are out to family and friends, they still keep it under wraps at work, both getting closer to retirement where they can one day be out to everyone.
This book starts with a very humorous light-hearted scene but by the end of this book, you will have felt as though you ran a marathon. At least I did. I'm so invested in these two, and Abigail Roux really tests their relationship in this one. I don't want to go into too many details as it will be more fun for you guys to discover what happens on your own, but I will set the book up.
As I mentioned, the book starts cute as Ty and Zane are forced to pose for a charity calendar. Let's just say they both aren't keen on the idea, which makes it even funnier. Soon after, Ty receives a distressing call from his good friend and former Marine buddy Nick, who begs Ty to come down to New Orleans to get him out of jail. Ty and Zane rush to the Big Easy to help anyway they can.
There, they meet up with all of Ty's former Marine team and plan to spend the weekend catching up. This also gives Zane a chance to really get to know Ty's friends and vice versa. But we all know Ty and Zane can't just have a nice, relaxing few days together. Big drama unfolds. We meet a new character by the name Liam Bell, who is a blast from Ty's past. He causes chaos and drama, and I ended up really enjoying him and the commotion he causes.
Fans of this series will be happy to know that we dive deep into both Ty's and Zane's past and through a few flashbacks we learn of some dark secrets they both have been keeping. Ty shares one secret that is so big it has a huge impact on their relationship. It's a painful part of the book, and Abigail Roux really makes Ty and Zane work hard to move past it. It's probably the most impactful scene in this series to date. Hold tight, readers, because it's rough, but it is also beautifully done, and once you read "the end" you can look back with satisfaction.
I highly recommend this series, but as each book grows on the previous, I recommend reading them in order. Abigail Roux has something really special going on in this series. I think out of all the books I've read and all the characters I've met, I'm the most invested in Ty and Zane's relationship. They can go from being so sarcastic, funny and crazy to having these intense, emotional moments that just wreck you. I adore them and as always, I am dying for the next book.
