Throwback Thursday: Jessie recs paranormals with curvy heroines
Today's Throwback Thursday features BBW (big beautiful women) books — curvy women and the hot heroes who love them!
Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon
This was my first "BBW," which basically means the heroine is gorgeous but not a twig. I loved it, I loved how the hero gloried in Bride's curves and, frankly, it was one of my favorite Dark Hunter books. Vane Kattalakis is a very alpha wolf, a Were-Hunter wolf who has found his fated mate in Bride. Unlike female wolves, Bride is soft and only wants to give pleasure, not demand it. He has enemies at his back, and a beautiful woman at his front, so both he and his wolf will have to make Bride theirs.

The Accidental Vampire by Lynsay Sands
Elvi Black was accidentally turned vamp, and though she has friends, she spends eternity alone. When her neighbors put a personal ad in the paper, she meets Victor Argeneau. I love Elvi. Since being turned vamp she only wears black, stays away from the typical bad vampire stuff -- crosses and garlic -- and the entire town knows she's a vamp! The back-and-forth between Elvi and Victor -- and how he teaches her about being a vampire -- is simply hilarious as well as enjoyable. This is one of my favorite Argeneau vamps. The curvy Elvi knocks Victor off his feet and woe be to the other immortals who answer her ad.

Zen and the Art of Vampires by Katie MacAlister
Pia Thomason decides before her 40th birthday that she needs to do something. So she takes a singles tour through Europe – oh, and she's man hunting. The problem is she's considered a bit too curvy, and the men on the tour leave much to be desired. Then two men catch her eye. Turns out, they're vampires. And, in other plot developments, Pia must clear her name and get out of a murderer's path. This isn't a stand-alone novel, though. For Pia's HEA, readers must read Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang. I enjoy the Dark Ones novels, but sometimes Pia overthinks her weight, I mean way overthinks it. It's almost a separate entity. Besides that, the heroes are hot, Pia gets herself into a ton of trouble, and it's a fun read.
