Kenya Wright shares her top 5 smexy romances
Kenya Wright, author of Complicated by You, gets into the smexy just as much as the rest of us romance readers. So she joins us to reveal five of her favorites that tip the smexy scale …
Kenya: When I'm not writing, I'm devouring books. I love all genres, from complex high-fantasy novels with elaborate world-building, to literary marvels inciting my mind with questions on life. However, smexy romances are one of my secret reading addictions.
What's a smexy romance?
It's the entertaining combination of a smart plot and hot sex scenes that aren't too graphic but arousing nonetheless. These books force their readers to think about issues that they would've never considered while tantalizing their concepts of sexuality.
Due to reading at least five books a week, I've trudged through the good, bad, and how-did-that-get-published novels to compile an awesome list of my top five smexy romances.
Here they go:
Tempted by Megan Hart. I pretty much auto-buy anything by Megan Hart due to her ability to elevate her romances to literary status. Tempted involves a married couple who invites the husband's best friend to stay with them for the summer. Things get interesting and really hot. Among the sensual scenes are strong themes in defining marriage, life, and love.
Sins and Needles by Karina Halle. If Quentin Tarantino and Nicholas Sparks had a child (I know it's impossible, but work with me here), then their child would be named Sins and Needles. This is fast-paced thriller romance with an anti-heroine who is easy to love and hate at the same time, as well as the yummiest rock geek coated in tattoos that you will ever read.
Master of Crows by Grace Draven. This is high fantasy with a poetic narrative voice. My most favorite thing about the book is that the heroine isn't traditionally beautiful. Additionally, the world-building is complex and well-imagined, and the sex scenes are dripping with an artistic edge.
Platinum by Jeffe Kennedy. This is a novella about an albino art dealer struggling to fulfill her dreams in the art world. In walks a bad-boy sculpture who changes her life as well as guides her on a path to a darker erotic world.
Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates. If you would like to learn about the wine industry while having your senses teased and stimulated, then this is the novel for you.
So these are my smexy romances. If you think you have some great recommendations, feel free to send me an e-mail with the name of the book and author. I would love to read it. Visit www.KenyaWright.com.
