Throwback Thursday: Law enforcement hotties
While paranormal romances are my true love, I have to admit that having the spice of the hero being a member of law enforcement? Wow, my buttons are pushed. Below are three of my favorite cop paranormals.
Cop hero
Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh
The hero of this book is fascinating — while he's a regular cop, what he does (especially for the Psy) is what I'd consider special ops. Max is the best cop in New York, not only because of his skills, but because of his mental block which makes him impenetrable to the Psy. Bonds of Justice also has one of my favorite heroines, Sophia Russo … I love most of Nalini's heroes and heroines, but Sophia holds a special place in my heart. She's ruthless, and has one of the most powerful and dangerous gifts. Of course the very fact that Sophia is Max's 'woman' makes Max all kinds of hot and confident. The storyline is excellent and involves Sasha's mom (which is nice) as well as a human and Psy. This is one of my favorite series and this book is one of the best.
The Psy/Changeling series:
Slave to Sensation
Visions of Heat
Caressed by Ice
Mine to Possess
Hostage to Pleasure
Branded by Fire
Blaze of Memory
Play of Passion
Kiss of Snow
Tangle of Need
Heart of Obsidian
There are also a ton of novellas and mini stories in between the titles that can be found in anthologies for free on Nalini's website.
Detective hero
Some Kind of Magic by R. Cooper
This is one of my favorite shifter m/m books. While it doesn't have the deepest plot, I personally love everything about it, and it's one of my guilty little pleasures to read on a rainy day. This is the first Beings in Love book and centers around a werewolf cop and a fairy … consultant. Ray knows that Cal is his mate … but wolves mate for life and fairies don't. There's also someone killing in a 'wolf-like' fashion to frame Ray. There is a lot of angst in this book; at first Ray tries to be stalwart, and tries so hard not to let a glittering fairy invade his very senses, and said fairy just wants Ray, and doesn't understand why Ray won't just take her. OK, I love these two so much I'm about to pick it up and start again!
The series:
Some Kind of Magic
A Boy and His Dragon
Special ops hero
Conspiracy Game by Christine Feehan
This is my favorite GhostWalkers book. While I love Gator and his accent, Jack Norton is mine. Jack is a genetically enhanced specialized telepathic sniper who has a twin brother, Ken. When he rescues his brother from the Congo, he ends up meeting Briony. Briony is his … well, chemical mate. They are drawn to each other, but Briony is so nice, so special … everything Jack isn't. He tries so hard to resist, but Briony and her courage draw him in like a moth to a flame. The chemistry between the two is intense, and the gym scene? I loved every minute of this one, and often re-read it. All the GhostWalkers are fun, but Jack's darkness draws …
The series:
Shadow Game
Mind Game
Night Game
Conspiracy Game
Deadly Game
Predatory Game
Murder Game
Street Game
Ruthless Game
Samurai Game
