Jessie attends YA Day at Authors After Dark convention
YA Day is always a blast at conventions. Not only is it a day pass, but also you get to meet your favorite YA and NA authors and see what's coming out for them next.
In the morning of YA Day at the Authors After Dark convention in Savannah, Ga., over the weekend, I got to see the most hilarious interactions with Lia Habel (at left), Ciara Knight, A.L. Davroe, C.J. Redwine, and J.A. Souders.
The talk was of the different types of genres from biomedical punk, steampunk, cyberpunk, dieselpunk … and what is a unit of measurement of punk … is it mohawks?
In the afternoon, I took my mother-in-law to the YA and regular book signings, where I got to see authors I hadn't seen since RT and a few I was looking forward to meeting for the first time (Sophie Jordan, Mary Janice Davidson and Rachel Haimowitz). There were a ton of new authors and, of course, I left with my bag heavier and my wallet lighter.
All in all, the convention had a fun vibe to it, and I'm putting it on my calendar for 2014. And next year's Master of Ceremonies has been announced: Alexandra Ivy!
