Jessie revisits teen vamps for Throwback Thursday
Below are three of my favorite teen vampire books by amazing authors — with fantastic characters. Oh, and hot vamps!
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
This is one of my all-time-favorite books. Richelle Mead is a master author, and Vampire Academy is amazing. VA is also a manga/graphic novel as well as a movie! The basic plot is that Rose is a Dhampir training to be the bodyguard to her best friend and Moroi (vampire), Princess Lissa. They share a unique bond, one of a shared psychic connection. There is blood, death, serious steam, and this is only book one. As the story progresses, the characters grow in new directions. Again, Richelle is a master storyteller, and each installment comes with its fill of adventure and, of course, cliff hangers.
Other books in the series:
Frostbite
Shadow Kiss
Blood Promise
Spirit Bound
Last Sacrifice
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
Blue Bloods embodies everything the teenage me wanted: money, power and fangs. Schuyler is one of the vampires known as Blue Bloods (not just in money and prestige), and her world changes when she begins experiencing weird cravings and flashbacks and her veins begin to show through her arms. That's not the weirdest part, though. Someone is killing Blue Bloods, and there are whispers of Croatoan and Silver Bloods being back. That brief blurb doesn't even cover a fraction of the awesome that is Blue Bloods. It's a book for you if you like vintage Chanel, dilapidated mansions and secrets, long for masquerade parties and believe in reincarnation.
Other books in the series:
Masquerade
Revelations
The Van Alen Legacy
Misguided Angel
Lost in Time
Gates of Paradise
Hearts at Stake (aka My Love Lies Bleeding) by Alyxandra Harvey
This book is a truly fun and entertaining, toothy read. The heroines are Solange (a vamp) and Lucy (a human). They are best friends and, surprisingly, their parents are close friends, as well. The book is told in alternating POVs, and I loved reading from both a vamp's and a human's perspective. There's a really hot older vampire brother (for Lucy to crush on) and a hot vampire hunter for Solange. There's action, assassins sent to kill Solange (drama with the Queen of Vampires) and unlikely romance. This is the perfect series if you're looking for the lighter side of being a vampire and want to breeze through during a rainy day.
Other books in the series:
Blood Feud
Out for Blood
Bleeding Hearts
Blood Moon
Blood Prophecy
