Throwback Thursday: Succubi are a reader's best friend
This week's Throwback Thursday focuses on heroines who are smart and funny … oh, and succubus (succubi?).
Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead
Georgina Kincaid is a succubus who has a crappy job in hell. She gets souls for a living using her wardrobe, her shape-shifting skills and her body. It's not so glamorous (think middle-management demons and the inability to date without sucking your boyfriend's soul). The only thing she looks forward to is her day job at the Bookstore. This is the beginning of the story of how Georgina and Seth must sacrifice and figure out a way out of her "night" job. It takes six books to accomplish. I have to say Seth and Georgina's first meeting is awesome and hilarious! There's action and romance and a whole lotta Richelle loving. If you enjoyed Vampire Academy, this is more adult and just as plot filled. There are also a few novellas sprinkled throughout.
The series:
Succubus Blues
Succubus on Top
Succubus Dreams
Succubus Heat
Succubus Shadows
Succubus Revealed
Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione
So, technically, if I wanted a heroine who's a succubus, I'd write about Sin Undone, but this is the first book in the Demonica series, and I love Eidolon and this starting story of Larissa's fabulous world. Eidolon is an incubus who is also the head doctor for a hospital run for demons and other supernatural kind. Tayla is a demon hunter, and lands in said hospital where she and Eidolon meet. It's hot, it's lusty and Tayla is so, so awesome. In the following books we get to see more of Eidolon's brothers, Sin (ohhhh, Sin, wait for that book!) and a peek into the demon hunters and their hierarchy. While the book titles and summaries seem cookie-cutter paranormal, I really loved every minute in the world.

Gentlemen Prefer Succubi by Jill Myles
So this one is for funsies: It's light, it's hilarious and is the perfect read for gloomy, rainy days. Jackie Brighton wakes up in a dumpster with her, um, assets enlarged from B's to DD's, and she happens to have had a one-night stand with a fallen angel. Noah is said angel and is hot and chiseled … but what's a girl to do when this hot, chiseled man is the one who made her a succubus? Yes, there's a love triangle, and yes, it's a bit overdone. But, like I said, the book made me smile, and the steam is definitely there. I really like Jackie, and anyone looking for a witty and funny heroine, should start the series.
The series:
Gentlemen Prefer Succubi
Succubi Like It Hot
My Fair Succubi
Succubi Are Forever
