Jessie recs audio book of 'Archangel's Legion'

Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter's No. 6) by Nalini Singh

Narrated by Justine Eyre

While I read the first five, I decided to skip them in audio and listened to Archangel's Legion. Nalini Singh is really fantastic plot- and character-wise, and I have to say this is one of my favorites, if not favorite, installment. For those of you new to the series, I'd definitely recommend starting with Angel's Blood, because that is where Elena and Raphael first meet and fall for one another. In AL, we have a ball, strange occurrences, a new power, and, of course, Raphael's own power evolving in to something more. The danger isn't just external; Raphael may be the most dangerous yet.

Justine Eyre is one of the few female narrators who really does male voices well. I also like how Emma Galvin and Sophie Eastlake do male voices. All I can say is that Justine does Raphael very, very nicely (wink, wink). She also narrates the Mighty Storm series by Samantha Towle, the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, The Georgian series by Sylvia Day and quite a few others. If you're looking for smooth narrations, great transitions between characters and the book coming to life, I'd recommend anything she narrates.

Allegiant: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Narrated by Emma Galvin and Aaron Stanford

OK, so this is really hard to write, so I'm going to focus on the narration. First off, Emma Galvin is one of my favorite narrators, and Aaron Stanford is now up there with her. He's able to stand on his own and Tobias' chapters come to life under his tones and mannerism. It was a new experience seeing Tris through his eyes and just what goes on behind his mask of cool practicality. I still love Divergent and Insurgent and would recommend this series to dystopian fans any day. I'm not going to comment on the story because, without giving away spoilers, it broke my heart. Especially listening to it, I was on the verge of tears. So while I am glad I spent the money and pre-ordered the audio book, I will more than likely not be re-listening to Allegiant or re-reading it.

Emma Galvin also narrates the Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole, Faking It by Cora Carmack, Strings Attached by Judy Blundell, and quite a few others. She has a smoky quality to her voice and does male voices as well as Southern very well. Aaron Stanford narrates all of Tobias' books (starting with The Transfer), and The Initiate will be released in the middle of December. He is the perfect Tobias/Four and is great opposite Emma.
