Ah, Harrison Ford, how we love your 'Working Girl' days

Jennifer Ryan, author of The Return of Brody McBride

My three favorite love songs:

Katie Armiger's Safe. This might be my theme song for every romance I write. Maybe we aren't looking for it, but love finds us anyway. The right person comes along and even though you think it doesn't fit in your life, you think, "One look in your eyes, And I completely changed my mind... Cause you, you make me feel safe."

Bruno Mars' When I Was Your Man. Bruno sings of his lost love "dancing with another man." A love song to the one he let get away because he didn't realize what he had and took it for granted. It's a song about what you'd want your ex to realize after you've moved on, and a reminder to love and appreciate the one you're with.

Miranda Lambert's Love Song. This song isn't the mushy, idealized version of what we romanticize about love. It's the "I know you and you know me, we don't even need to say it, because we know it, we feel it, we live it, and nothing is going to change it" kind of love song.

Here's the blurb for The Return of Brody McBride (Book 1: The McBride Series):

The black sheep of Fallbrook is back…and he's in for the surprise of his life.

Former bad boy, now decorated Army Ranger, Brody McBride is home and on a mission: Find the woman he never should have left behind, and right the wrong he did eight years ago.

When the man she loved broke her heart and skipped town, Rain Evans picked up the pieces. But along with heartbreak, Brody left her something infinitely better than she imagined: two beautiful daughters. One she gave birth to, and the other she rescued from the woman who helped destroy her relationship with Brody.

Brody is shocked to discover he's a father, and he's more determined than ever to win back Rain and protect his girls. Can they rekindle the love they once shared and become the family they were always meant to be? Or will a danger from their past return and ruin everything?

Tina Donahue, author of Stolen Desire

My three favorite movies:

Working Girl. Talk about having it all. The clothes, parties, palatial estates, a great job, and Harrison Ford when he looked really good. OMG, where do I sign up? I adore the scene where Harrison is changing shirts in the office. Why can't my boss look like that? And the end, when Tess finds out she's not the secretary but the boss — wow.

Avatar. This film defines world building. Holy moly, I want to book a vacation on Pandora. Imagine being on top of one of those floating mountains or riding a banshee. Makes bungee jumping seem downright tame. The romance between Jake and Neytiri is so freaking cool. I love how feisty she is. That girl doesn't take lip.

Gattaca. One of the best sci-fi films I've ever seen. My heart broke for Vincent when he was scrubbing his skin so he wouldn't leave traces of DNA that would expose him as an impostor. What a horrible world when your desire to succeed means nothing because of your genetic makeup. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire film and pumped my fist in the air, cheering him on at the end.

Here's the blurb for Stolen Desire (book four in the Outlawed Realm series), erotic paranormal/sci-fi:

Her freedom depends on one man. A criminal to his realm…

One minute, Paige Ross is outside a Seattle bar, grieving a failed engagement. The next, she jerks awake in a weird, candlelit room with velvet walls, black silk sheets, and a man who motions for silence.

Paige has little choice but to trust the powerful stranger who promises a way out of what looks like Satan's brothel. And pray his promise to keep her safe is as real as the heat burning in his eyes.

Banished from E2's ruling elite for supposed crimes against the realm, Zekin risks everything to rescue those brought to E5 for the guards' carnal pleasure. Paige will be leaving this inhospitable realm of fire and ice—if he can somehow forget the way her trembling body melts in his arms.

Safe—temporarily—in an underwater world populated by strange creatures, Paige's sexual awakening explodes into an unquenchable need that consumes them both. But the guards will be looking for her. And Zekin's plan to send her home is a dangerous journey she cannot—will not—take without him.
