Latest must-read by Nalini Singh: 'Shield of Winter'

Nalini's Singh's 13th Psy-Changeling book, Shield of Winter (out today!), is about a hero I have wanted almost as bad as the Ghost ... Vasic the Arrow ... the man who doesn't believe he deserves redemption, but who is as loyal and protective as a changeling alpha. Then we have Ivy, I was so thrilled to find out Nalini was going to focus on the e-designation and keep the tone darker and deeper, like in Heart of Obsidian. The book builds up so many issues and plots that it reads almost like an urban fantasy, with our two main characters falling in like early on but not reaching full steam until about three-quarters of the way through the book.

Vasic is just perfect. Watching him soften slowly from ice cold Arrow to a living, breathing and needing man just melted my heart. Personally, I'm a fan of UF and really enjoyed watching the E's work together to stop the rot on the Net and find a cure. The violence and the slow buildup were perfect for Vasic and Ivy. Each battle brought them closer together, and Judd giving Vasic advice for bedroom activities had me giggling.

This is one of my favorite series, and the audio books are so amazing I highly, highly recommend starting with Slave to Sensation (it just downloaded on my Audible app, yay!). The author has evolved so much since then, but it's still one of my all-time favorites that I go back to when I'm looking for a comfort read. Nalini's last two books have, in my opinion, been the strongest yet, and I love where the Net and different races are going. I want to watch Naya grow, I want to see Kit as an alpha and I long to see if Marly and Ben really are soul mates ... I'm just as invested in the second generation as I am in the first one, and that shows just how wonderful her world is.
