Gina Maxwell celebrates crazy wedding moments
Gina Maxwell, author of Tempting Her Best Friend, gets into the moments at weddings that don't go so great but leave a laugh-inducing memory.
Gina: How many of you have ever watched America's Funniest Home Videos and laughed until your sides hurt during the wedding montage? Moments where a guest dances right into the wedding cake, a bride's veil catches on fire (but doesn't get hurt), a groom drops his bride in a picturesque fountain, the ring bearer runs down the aisle sans mini-tux pants, and a groom pitches forward and faints right as it's his turn to say "I do."
Personally, I love ridiculous wedding moments. They make me laugh — and not the cute kind of laugh, either. I'm talking snorting, liquids-may-shoot-out-of-my-nose laughing. Seeing the horrendous bloopers that happen on the most wonderful of days shouldn't cause me so much joy, but it does. It applies a much-needed moment of levity to an otherwise stressful situation, 'cause let's face it, weddings are a big day, but we put so much pressure on ourselves to make sure that everything is perfect, even though it's an impossible goal. But when you can look back on your day and giggle because of something unexpected that happened? It's one of the best memories ever.
So where do you suppose the one place on earth is that has hosted the most crazy-wedding-moments in the history of matrimony? Yep, you guessed it. Vegas, baby! But you don't have to be in or see a wedding to encounter strange and crazy things in Vegas.

In Tempting Her Best Friend, Alyssa and Dillon experience a Bevy of Crazy in just 24 hours of being in Sin City. If I made a scavenger hunt for their story, these would be some of the things on the list: crème brûlée, Tarzan, unicorn pops, seven cheesy Bond Girl names, NASCAR Elvis, unicorn pops, five insulting names for a philandering pirate, a TSA Ken doll look-a-like … did I mention unicorn pops? Well, it bears repeating because I promise you'll never look at those nostalgic, old-fashioned suckers the same again. ;) And those are just some of the things you'll find in this What Happens in Vegas series friends-to-lovers story.
Whether it's at a wedding, a weekend in Vegas, or an important business meeting, unexpected crazy moments are by far some of the most memorable. I actually have my own crazy wedding moment from way back in 1999. It involved a busty bride with a sweetheart neckline (me), an old Irish priest who may or may not have been hitting the sacramental wine before the ceremony, and a homily that ended with the enthusiastic phrase, "May we all be breast!" True story. We have it on tape.
So what's the funniest thing you've seen at a wedding? Or the craziest experience you've had in Vegas? Share with the class!
