Interview: Sherrilyn Kenyon, author of 'Son of No One'
Today we have Sherrilyn Kenyon, author of Son of No One, with us to discuss her ongoing Dark Hunters series and to tell us more about Josette and Cadegan.
Jessie: Welcome to HEA, Sherrilyn! What can readers expect from Son of No One?
Sherrilyn: The unexpected :) There are whopping revelations about Thorn, the Devereaux sisters and Max (the dragon in Sanctuary).
Jessie: Please tell us about Josette and Cadegan.
Sherrilyn: Jo is a cousin to the lunatic Devereaux sisters and is best friends with them. They're a very close-knit family and some of their deepest secrets come out. She's hysterically sarcastic and very capable, but is the cosmic dumping ground of perpetual bad luck.
A medieval knight and warlord, Cadegan is the brother of Thorn. Because of Cadegan's powers and birthright, Thorn locked him into another realm. He's not real happy about that.
Jessie: The earlier books and story line have evolved so much. Have you always known how you wanted the plot and story arcs to go?
Sherrilyn: While I have a general idea and roadmap, I'm always surprised by the final journey. Just like any road trip. You know where you're going, but it's the unforeseen detours that make the journey memorable and "special."
Jessie: Do you have a favorite hero? A favorite couple? How about a favorite Dark Hunter book?
Sherrilyn: They're like my children. I love them all equally, but at times they do make me nuts.
Jessie: What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you while writing the Dark Hunters series?
Sherrilyn: My son, who is writing his first novel, coming into my office in the middle of the night to agonize over how hard writing a book is. "Mom, you just don't know!" Oh, OK. And all these years, I mistakenly thought fairies came into my office in the middle of the night and wrote them for me. Dang you, reality! Dang you!
Jessie: What are you working on right now?
Sherrilyn: Editing Born of Defiance and writing Instinct, and finishing up the grammar primer for the scriptwriters.
Jessie: Now for some rapid-fire questions …
