Cover reveal: 'A Scoundrel by Moonlight' by Anna Campbell

Anna Campbell joins HEA to show us the cover of her fourth Sons of Sin book, A Scoundrel by Moonlight, which comes out April 28. We also get to share some pics from the photo shoot for the cover. Enjoy!

Anna: Thank you for checking out my cover reveal here! And thank you to Happy Ever After for hosting me!

One of the loveliest moments for a writer is seeing the cover of her book for the first time — well, it's been lovely for me with these fantastic covers from Forever Romance for my Sons of Sin series. They've all been spectacular, including the one for book four in the series, A Scoundrel by Moonlight, out at the end of April next year.

I just love that purple! And I'm a sucker for historical romance covers with girls wearing lovely dresses (well, she's almost wearing that dress!). Especially when they're in the arms of handsome hunks of heroes.

Sometimes when I write a character, I have a specific physical model in mind. For example, David Boreanaz with scars was my inspiration for Jonas, the hero of Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed. Sometimes, the source of the inspiration is purely in my head.

For Scoundrel's hero, the Marquess of Leath, I pictured a big, brawny man with dark hair, angular features and very deep-set gray eyes. Definitely one in my head. For the heroine, Nell Trim, I had a much more concrete example. I think Emilia Clarke who plays Daenerys in Game of Thrones is so striking. When I thought of Nell, that's the picture that came into my mind. Someone small but powerful, with pale fairy hair and marked dark eyebrows over steady eyes.

Nell is on a quest to destroy Leath because she believes he's the man who ruined her sister. A woman from a humble background needs a lot of courage and cleverness and determination to take on one of England's greatest noblemen. Something about Daenerys made me think of those qualities (I don't watch the show, but people who do tell me that she's a really strong character). Nell might be physically vulnerable, but mentally and spiritually, she's as tough as granite.

When Forever starts to put together a cover for one of my stories, they always ask me for images and scene ideas. I'm utterly delighted that with Scoundrel, not only did they choose the scene I suggested of the couple's first kiss, in the marquess' decadent bedroom in the tower of his castle, but they've given me a heroine who looks exactly as I pictured Nell, right down to the white-blond hair. You see less of Leath's face (although you see plenty of his impressive chest!). But I love the tenderness in the way he's holding her. You can sense the unwelcome but overpowering sensual energy between these two. The cover's a really breathtaking mix of sexy and romantic!

I hope when next April arrives, you'll enjoy making the acquaintance of both my marquess and my purposeful heroine. Or perhaps I should say purple-full!

Here's the blurb about A Scoundrel by Moonlight:

Anything can happen in the moonlight ...

Justice. That's all Nell Trim wants-for her sister and for the countless other young women the Marquess of Leath has ruined with his wildly seductive ways. Now she has a bold plan to take him down . . . as long as she can resist the scoundrel's temptations herself.

From the moment Nell meets James Fairbrother, the air positively sizzles. Yet for all his size and power, there's something amazingly tender in his touch. Could he really be such a depraved rogue? The only way to find out is to beat the devil at his own game . . . one tempting kiss at a time.
